    Yup, I'm new here

I just found out about CovenSpace, so I thought that I would try it out.  I live in SE PA, an area well known for its Luthern and Amish affiliations, along with the expected push from the MD Baptists.  It's been a little hard finding like minded folks around here, so I look to places like this to hook up with a community.

I ride racehorses for a living and am a committed.... I don't know what.  Wicca (particularly the writings of Starhawk and Phyllis Curott) is a philosophy that seems to make a lot of sense and fits best with my awe of nature.  I combine that with a long relationship with Aikido and its roots in Shintoism.

I have almost raised two boys and they grew up hearing of, if not practicing, a nature-centric point of view.  Now they are nearly out of high school and each is sharply attuned to the environment.  One is a vegetarian and the other will end up with EarthFirst!, I fear.

My ponder for the week: How can doing what we love and are horribly good at it, lead us to a dead end?

I would say that it doesn't really leave us in a dead end. Rather that the time for doing that particular thing might come to an end. To do what we love and are good at is a blessing from the Godess, to make money from it and do it for life is something that we can only hope happens. I have met many people who like what they are doing and are good at, but only one person who told me she loves what she does and is good at it, and can't wait to get up each morning so she can do it all again. That is something I dream of.
